Thanks to everyone who made the “Fuel Up” Homewood community dinner on Thursday, April 14, 2016 a great success!
About 100 residents and volunteers from around the community gathered on the first floor of 7800 Susquehanna to socialize, meet new people, and celebrate Homewood. Conversation starters written on the tables prompted thoughtful conversations as guests reflected on their neighborhoods and laughed at some of the more lighthearted questions.
A photo booth featured fun accessories and creative art pieces by Cheryl Capezzuti, who also created the colorful and imaginative giant puppets that decorated the space. Music by Kevin McMahon and Will Manker, two members of the In Transit band, created a welcoming ambiance for the evening.
Guests, children and adults alike, were invited express their own creativity and make a sock puppet at a table hosted by Whistle, and at another table, guests planted pea sprouts with staff and volunteers from Phipps Conservatory.
Seven volunteers from the Steel City Road Runners served a delicious dinner catered by Win10 catering and the root beer floats, with root beer donated by and Vecenie Distributing and ice cream donated by Every Day’s A Sundae, were hit!
At the end of the evening, baskets provided by Phipps Conservatory, Repair the World, GTECH Strategies, and the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon were raffled off and every guest left with a goodie bag from the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon.
